Permanent teeth have erupted \u2013 what next?<\/h5>\n

When a child\u2019s permanent teeth have erupted, it may seem that oral care can now follow the same routine as for adults. However, this is not entirely the case. During puberty, many changes take place in a young person\u2019s body, and these also affect oral and dental health. During this period, gum inflammation may become more common, as hormonal changes make the gums more sensitive and more prone to inflammation. It is important to pay attention to gum bleeding, swelling, and maintaining good oral hygiene.<\/p>\n

Oral hygiene in young people and its care<\/h5>\n

In this age group, we recommend visiting the dental clinic at least once every nine months. We assess oral hygiene and the condition of the teeth. Many modern young people no longer develop classic cavities; instead, tooth structure begins to weaken beneath the enamel. Shadows may appear in the teeth, and with timely professional cleaning, more serious fractures and damage can be prevented. This type of deterioration is likely related to diet and stress. Because modern life is demanding \u2014 school, sports, lack of time, and quick fast-food snacks \u2014 the body may begin using teeth as a mineral reserve needed for the function of the heart and nervous system. In other words, it draws calcium and other minerals from the teeth. Strong remineralising toothpastes also play a role, strengthening the tooth surface, although decay may still develop inside the tooth. Such issues are treated in cooperation with a general practitioner.<\/p>\n

We also spend a lot of time educating young people about whitening toothpastes, the differences in their abrasiveness, whitening gels, and how to achieve whiter teeth without causing irreversible damage to the enamel.<\/p>\n

During growth, bite anomalies or issues related to wisdom teeth may also appear. In the case of malocclusion, the patient is referred to an orthodontist, who provides an appropriate treatment plan. As a result, many young people wear orthodontic appliances, which can make oral hygiene more difficult. In such cases, it is especially important to visit a dental hygienist and, in addition to regular oral care tools, use an oral irrigator for cleaning interdental spaces. With orthodontic appliances, proper oral hygiene is essential to prevent widespread cavities.<\/p>\n

Regular dental check-ups help monitor tooth development and detect potential problems early, ensuring a healthy and strong smile into adulthood.<\/p>\n
